England faced a royal thrashing at the hands of the young colts of India at Birmingham in the 2nd Test. Ben Stokes and co. faced a huge loss of 336 runs and this was a nightmare of sorts for them.
Despite winning the 1st Test match, England didn’t roll over their opposition. India played exceedingly well and were inches close towards a fantastic victory. But as fate had it, India failed to seize on the opportunities and failed to live up to their expectations.
But Shubman Gill and co. staged a fabulous comeback in the 2nd Test match and eclipsed past their opponents. It was also their first-ever victory at Birmingham in 9 attempts in the longest format of the game.
England has selected a 16-man team for the third test of the five-match series for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, which will take place at the Lord’s in London, following their defeat in the second test against India. On Thursday, July 10, the 3rd test will begin.
Gus Atkinson added to the squad
After a shock performance in Birmingham, the apex body of England cricket, the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB), announced England’s squad for the 3rd Test. Pacer Gus Atkinson has been included in the side and he can a game-changer for England in the remainder of the Test series.
Notably, Atkinson was ruled out of the first 2 Test matches of this series because of a hamstring issue. His presence will bolster the bowling stocks of England and he can play an instrumental role in the 3rd Test match, at the iconic and prestigious Lord’s Cricket Ground.
The 27-year-old pacer has played 12 Tests so far and has bagged 55 wickets.
