West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell is all set to draw curtains on his international career after the 1st T20Is versus Australia at home. The tall and burly all-rounder was one of the biggest matchwinners of West Indies and his presence will be dearly felt by the well-wishers of West Indies cricket.

At a time when every cricketer was prioritizing franchise cricket over international cricket, Russell kept playing international cricket in bits and pieces. He made himself available in the shortest format of international cricket since 2019 and has been playing this format a lot.

West Indies now face a big crisis as two of their biggest matchwinners have called it quits from international cricket. At first, it was Nicholas Pooran and now it is Andre Russell.

The Caribbean Island nations are most certainly going through a period of immense pressure in cricket. Notably, Australia had skittled West Indies out for a paltry score of 26 runs in the 4th innings of the 3rd Test match – it was the second-lowest innings total in the history of Test cricket.

What are the stats of Andre Russell?

The 37-year-old cricketer from Jamaica has played 84 T20Is, 56 ODIs and 1 Test match for West Indies. He has amassed 1078 runs in T20Is and 1034 runs in ODIs.

Russell has bagged 61 and 70 wickets respectively in T20Is and ODIs. His ability to contribute with the bat and with the ball was something that made West Indies cricket, extremely dynamic in T20Is.

Notably, Andre Russell has been a part of 2-title winning T20 World Cup teams of West Indies – in 2012 and 2016.

Russell plays T20 franchise cricket all across the globe and will continue to do. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Russell plays for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and has been an integral part of the team.
