The Evolution Of Esports In Bangladesh

Date:

Esports has steadily moved away from being a hobby to being a viable career option across the world, and Bangladesh is no exception. The country has seen massive growth in the eSports sector in the past few years. We have witnessed the emergence of numerous eSports teams from Bangladesh in international tournaments. However, they have often failed to leave a mark in the international arena. Keep reading to know about the evolution of eSports in Bangladesh and the hurdles they face which keep them from realizing their true potential.

Growth of eSports in Bangladesh

Esports has developed a sizable fan base over time. Bangladesh has been influenced by a sizable player base. These players exhibit an immense passion for the game. The number of players aspiring to become professional eSports players has risen dramatically. In addition to being a streaming genre, video games have also branched out into the world of sports. Some people now depend on it for their livelihood, making it more than simply amusement.

In the present world, titles like Valorant, and FIFA make up the majority of the esports sector. Although these are the games that are popular right now, the eSports niche in Bangladesh had its roots in Counter-Strike.

Since franchising and sponsorship agreements have now been established, athletes are able to fight for monetary gain. Young athletes have started chasing their passions with more tenacity now that they have the opportunity to make money doing what they love. Esports franchising adheres to the same rules as other forms of gaming. In addition to other advantages, players have contracts, are paid salaries, and are given bonuses for winning championships.

The major downside is that most clubs don’t pay the players adequately. The average salary for young players is somewhere about BDT 6,000, which is shockingly low. Few players are paid as little as BDT 2,000 per month. Even though there are advances across the board, many members of the community still face issues. These flaws have existed from the beginning and are still a problem for the players.

The entire act of playing video games professionally is scorned, and that mentality has to be altered. This makes it even more difficult for eSports players in Bangladesh to take it up as a professional career.

Both the number of events and the prize money needs to be significantly increased. A scarcity in events will certainly cause the player base to decline and runs the danger of lowering gaming quality.

India’s gaming scene is booming. A standard has been established for developing talent. For Bangladesh to also make the most of its talents, firstly, the large corporations should make investments in the players. Players should be able to attend boot camps and have access to coaching facilities. These are crucial to the growth of any player. Players should also be adequately compensated for their efforts.
