Odisha FC and FC Goa played out an eventful 1-1 draw at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar. Noah Sadaoui and Diego Mauricio found their names on the goal-scoring sheet as we witnessed an exciting game of football.
FC Goa wasted no time if taking a lead as their lead goal-scorer Noah Sadaoui netted a goal inside the first couple of minutes in the game itself.
Alvaro Vasquez delivered a good through ball to Noah Sadaoui in the left wing who acted swiftly. He pulled the trigger and scored a very early goal to put the noses of the Gaurs ahead.
FC Goa had the lead and momentum pretty much all throughout the first half but a goal towards the end of the first half from the hosts, meant that the game went into an even pedestal.
Diego Mauricio fired a free-kick through a set-piece in the 43rd minute which curled in and pierced the hands of the opposition goalkeeper. His exceptional free-kick goal was his 10th goal of this Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 season as he is on an absolute roll.
The 31-year-old Brazilian is now the joint-highest goal-scorer in ISL 2022-23, with 10 goals under his belt.
In the 50th minute of the game, we almost saw a mirror reflection of the first goal from FC Goa. Noah Sadaoui donned the hat of the assist maker and gave a through ball to Alvaro Vasquez. Vasquez fired it to the back of the net but his goal was deemed offside after the linesman raised his flag.
In the 66th minute, Sahil Panwar of Odisha FC was flashed a red card and he was sent off the field. It was the second yellow card for him after a duel and therefore he was given a red card immediately.
For around 25 minutes, the home side were one man down but they did extremely well to stop the incoming threats of the red-hot FC Goa. Josep Gombau’s Odisha FC stopped FC Goa from having a hat-trick of wins in the ISL 2022-23.
