WTC Final 2023: Virat Kohli, Axar Patel, Ravi Ashwin, & Other Team India Members Ready For UK Departure

Date:

The highly anticipated IND vs AUS World Test Championship (WTC) Final is set to take place from June 7 to June 11. Virat Kohli is scheduled to depart for the UK on Tuesday in preparation for the highly anticipated WTC 2023 final against Australia, which is set to commence at The Oval.

Accompanying him on this journey will be several other team members, including Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, and Jaydev Unadkat.

Virat Kohli, a star batsman, recently saw his team, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, bow out of the Indian Premier League following their defeat in a crucial match against the Gujarat Titans at the M. Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday.

With their IPL campaign concluded, Kohli is now free to join the Indian squad for the forthcoming World Test Championship.

As per the media reports, both Jaydev Unadkat and Umesh Yadav have been deemed fit to participate in the tournament after receiving approval from experts at the National Cricket Academy.

Joining Kohli in the initial group of players will be the talented pacer Mukesh Kumar from Chennai, along with three other uncapped pacers named Aniket Choudhary, Akash Deep, and Yarra Prithviraj, who will serve as reserves.

Rohit Sharma, another key player in the Indian team, will join the squad after fulfilling his commitments in the IPL. Meanwhile, head coach Rahul Dravid will assume the responsibility of leading the team during the preparatory phase for the World Test Championship.

India and Australia Set to Renew Rivalry in Epic Showdown

The WTC 2023 final thrilling cricket match will be held at the renowned ‘The Oval’ cricket stadium in London, England.

It will mark India’s second appearance in the prestigious ICC event, with the previous edition resulting in a disappointing loss to New Zealand by eight wickets in June 2021 at Southampton’s Rose Bowl.

Rohit Sharma, leading the Indian team, will be looking to make amends and clinch the title this time around. India secured their place in the IND vs AUS WTC Final by triumphing over Australia with a 2-1 series victory in the four-match Border-Gavaskar Test series.

On the other hand, Australia earned their spot in the final by defeating India in one of the Test matches during the thrilling four-match IND vs AUS Test series.

Both teams have showcased exceptional talent and determination throughout their journey to the WTC Final. The clash between India and Australia promises to be a battle of skill, strategy, and intense competition as they vie for the ultimate glory in Test cricket.

Fans from both nations and cricket enthusiasts worldwide eagerly await this enthralling contest that will undoubtedly showcase the best of the sport.
