One of India’s most consistent performers in T20Is presently, Arshdeep Singh was not included in the playing XI of the Indian cricket team in the 1st T20I against the Sri Lankan cricket team.
Shivam Mavi was chosen ahead of him and incidentally, the 2018 U-19 World Cup winner made his debut in T20Is through this game. It is an extremely special moment for the youngster.
The apex body of Indian cricket, the Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) took to the micro-blogging platform Twitter to announce that Arshdeep Singh had failed to recover from illness and therefore he wasn’t available for selection.
“Note – Arshdeep Singh wasn’t available for selection for the 1st T20I against Sri Lanka since he has still not fully recovered from his illness,” read the BCCI tweet.
Alongside Shivam Mavi, Shubman Gill was also handed his debut T20I cap.
