The Delhi Capitals (DC) franchise made their presence felt at the auction room as they made 2 quick buys. Firstly, they bought swashbuckling opener and wicket-keeper batter Phil Salt. And then they bought veteran Indian pacer, Ishant Sharma.
DC is spearheaded by wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant and Salt becomes a good back-up option for them. Notably, Delhi is on a quest for their maiden IPL title and they would be hoping that the IPL 2023 goes in their favour.
Sharma last played an IPL game in 2019 and warmed the benches for DC in IPL 2020 and missed a lot of matches of IPL 2021 because of an injury. IPL 2022 brought a halt to Ishant Sharma’s IPL journey as he was unsold in the IPL 2022 mega auctions. He returns to Delhi and would be hoping to get some game-time.
