With the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction, the action will now shift to the highly-anticipated IPL 2023. The 16th edition of the world’s most popular T20 franchise league will commence from March 2023. A total of 10 teams will be crossing swords with each other in a bid to lay their lands on the prized silverware.
Debutants in the IPL, the Gujarat Titans (GT) lifted the IPL 2022 trophy on the back of some astute captaincy from Hardik Pandya. Now according to a few sources of SportsTiger, Gujarat will be locking horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the season opener of IPL 2023.
While on one hand we have the defending champions Gujarat Titans, on the other hand we have 5-time IPL winning team Mumbai Indians (MI). Rohit Sharma’s side Mumbai had an abysmal season in IPL 2022 and would be looking to exorcize the ghosts in the upcoming IPL 2023 season. Mumbai finished with the wooden spoon in the last IPL and won just 4 matches in 14 games.
Gujarat let go of Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). They have purchased Shivam Mavi and Kane Williamson in the IPL 2023 auction to bolster their team.
On the other hand, Mumbai secured the services off Cameron Green for a whopping Rs. 17.50 crores in the IPL 2023 auction.
