Nepal Cricket Association Revokes Suspension Of Spinner Sandeep Lamichhane

Date:

The apex body of Nepal cricket, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has revoked the suspension of star cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane. The 22-year-old leg spinner was accused of raping a 17-year-old minor and this came to the fore on September 8, 2022.

Sandeep Lamichhane was plying his trade for Jamaica Tallawahs in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and flew back to his country. He was taken to police custody on October 6, 2022.

The upliftment of the suspension will now allow the most prolific cricketer of Nepal to play for his national side in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series which will be taking place between Nepal, Namibia, and Scotland.

After a Nepal court granted bail to Lamichhane in January 2023, it was only a matter of time before he could once again play competitive cricket, and cricket for his national side.

The leg-spinner has so far 30 ODIs and 44 T20Is for the Nepal cricket team.
