Now ahead of the ICC U-19 Women’s World Cup final, Neeraj Chopra met with the Indian team and infused motivation into them. On the eve of the finals, Neeraj Chopra paid a visit to the team and made sure that they are quite energised and motivated. Team India led by talismanic batter Shafali Verma will be locking horns with England in the finals.
The all-important finals of the ICC U-19 Women’s World Cup will be taking place at the Senwes Park in Potcherstroom. It will be played on 29th January 2023 at 5:15 PM (IST). Shafali Verma will be hoping to successfully chase history and etch her name in the history books.
History beckons for the Indian U-19 women’s team
As this is the first edition of the ICC U-19 Women’s World Cup, India would be hoping to be the inaugural champions of this prestigious event. If India manages to lift the title at Potcherstroom, then that will be the first ICC title for the women’s team across all formats. Notably, the senior women’s team haven’t yet won any ICC title. They were the Commonwealth Games gold medalists in 2022 in Birmingham.
In the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup in 2005 and 2017, India finished as runners-up. The heartbreak in the year 2017 for Mithali Raj and her team came against England. The young Shafali Verma who also has 74 international caps, will be determined to guide her team to a sensational U-19 World Cup victory.
Neeraj Chopra had won the Gold Medal in Javelin, Athletics in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. He became India’s second individual gold-medalist at the Olympics. Abhinav Bindra had won the other gold medal for India in the Beijing Olympics 2008 in the Men’s 10m air rifle category.
