Actor Anushka Sharma and cricketer Virat Kohli have announced the birth of their second child, a baby boy named Akaay. The couple took to their social media accounts to share the joyous news with their fans and well-wishers.
Both Virat Kohli and Anushka shared a heartfelt note on Instagram, revealing that their son was born on February 15th. The note expressed their happiness and gratitude, stating, “With abundant happiness and our hearts full of love, we are pleased to inform everyone that on 15th February, we welcomed our baby boy Akaay & Vamika’s little brother into this world! We seek your blessings and good wishes in this beautiful time in our lives.”
The couple also requested privacy during this special time, saying, “We request you to kindly respect our privacy at this time.”

The name Akaay is derived from the Hindi word ‘kaya’, which means the physical body. Akaay symbolizes being more than just the physical form, reflecting the couple’s profound meaning behind the name choice.
Virat and Anushka’s decision to keep the news of their pregnancy under wraps was a departure from their previous pregnancy announcement. This time, they chose to wait before sharing their joy with the world.
Speculation about Anushka’s pregnancy arose a few weeks ago when cricketer AB de Villiers mentioned on his YouTube channel that Virat and Anushka were expecting their second child. However, he later clarified that it was “false information.”
Virat recently withdrew from the Test series against England, leading many to speculate that the couple was indeed expecting a baby. Anushka, known for her roles in films like “Zero,” has not had a film release since 2018.
The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Vamika, in January 2021. Virat and Anushka, who got married in 2017 after dating for several years, are overjoyed with the arrival of their son Akaay and are looking forward to this new chapter in their lives.
