ENG vs IND 2nd Test Preview, Live Streaming Details- When and Where to Watch, TV Channels List, and Timings

Date:

The rain had a final laugh on day five of the first Test match at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, and that is why the first Test match ended in a draw. India and England get four crucial points according to the new cycle of the World Test Championship tournament. Now, this marquee five-match Test series moves to Lords in London. The second Test match is to be played from Thursday 12th August 2021 to Monday 16th August 2021.

India didn’t have any concerns with their bowling departments Bumrah and Co did exceptionally well in the first innings of the first Test match. The visitors bundled out the hosts for just 183 runs. But India lost their patience a bit in the second innings, and that’s where their bowling could improve a bit.

England, on the other hand, also had a good bowling performance in the first Test match. The battle between Anderson Vs Kohli will be the contest to watch out for at Lords. But England also has a concern as their top three haven’t been that good despite batting in their home conditions. England will look to make some challenge against a good bowling lineup of India.

ENG – England

England

The hosts have a very good record against India at Lords Cricket Ground, also known as the Home of Cricket. England will look to keep their winning record intact against India from Thursday, and they have a team that could do it. However, they need a settled batting order for the next Test match. The top three batsmen of England look vulnerable against Bumrah and co with the swing and seaming deliveries.

At the moment, their skipper Joe Root looked as a complete batsman in both the innings of the first Test match. Root’s 109 runs ensured that England won’t lose the game at Trent Bridge. But they also need the experience players like Buttler and Bairstow to perform at their best in the series. While the pace department has all the basis are covered. They need to give more attention to their batting. Haseeb Hameed can replace Burns or Sibley. England can also add Dominic Bess, who can provide depth in their batting as a spin-bowling all-rounder. The pitch report of Lords says that the wicket can offer some turn for the spin bowlers on the last two days of the Test match.  The home side can also pick Jack Leach, who can be more effective on that kind of pitches.

The bowling attack of England has been good in these conditions. The veteran Jimmy Anderson is still going strong for them alongside Stuart Board. England also has a new pace bowling hero named Willie Robinson. The youngster can also add depth in batting. In the last Test match, he picked up his second five-wicket haul in his just second Test match. He made his debut at Lords against New Zealand in June, and he will look to replicate the same performance he gave recently.

IND – India

Nowadays, Team Ignition India is known as the bowling powerhouse because of Bumrah, Shami, Ishant, Shardul and Siraj. These pace owlers, along with two spin all-rounders, Ashwin and Jadeja, the Indian Team has got this recognition, and they can compete in any conditions and situation.

The bowlers did a wonderful job in the first Test match. Jasprit Boom Boom Bumrah was the stand-out bowler for India in the first Test match. He picked up nine up which the England pacers, who are playing in their home conditions, couldn’t pick up. Bumrah has six five-wicket hauls in his Test career, and all of them have come in overseas conditions. India will want to improve their record at Lords, so they will need Bumrah to replicate a similar performance at Lords. Bumrah will also aim to get his name on the Lord’s honors boa.

KL Rahul is another batsman to watch out for the second Test match. Rahul made a brilliant comeback into the Test side. He and Rohit shared a partnership of 97 runs which was the highest for India after 2011. Rahul scored 84 runs in the first innings, and he will aim to be in good form as the series progresses.

Rohit Sharma has been converting is starts in Test match cricket like he has done in-home Test series and limited over cricket. India needs to bag their third win at Lords. The last time when the Indian won a match at this venue was under MS Dhoni in 2014. Rohit needs to convert his starts into big scorers who will allow India to win the Test match and lead the series.

India’s middle-order. He picked up Virat Kohli, and Cheteshwar Pujara on consecutive deliveries, and Rahane was also run out in quick succession, which added the pressure on the lower order batsmen of India. Finally, Kohli was dismissed on a first-ball duck. Thus, Anderson won the opening battle against the Indian skipper. Now it remains to be seen how does the captain of India responds.

India needs runs from Pujara and Rahane as well. They have the experience, talent, and caliber to succeed in this series. Rahane can draw inspiration from his knock in 2014, which allowed India to win that Test match. Indian vice-captain scored 103 runs when needed the most, and he also scored a century in MCG. India has won the matches whenever Rahane has scored a ton.

Jadeja’s batting masterclass continues to shine for India. He scored a much-needed 56 runs, which allowed India to gain a healthy lead in the first Test match. However, the bowling performance of Jadeja wasn’t that great because the pitch didn’t offer any turn. But at Lords, Jaddu might do the job as a spin bowler on the last two days of that Test match. India will go with the same XI at Lords. Virat Kohli said this after the match was drawn at Trent Bridge.
