5 key players to watch in today’s match SL vs BAN in Asia Cup 2022

SL vs BAN Top Players

After winning both of its group games, Afghanistan has already become the first side from Group B to advance to the 2022 Asia Cup’s knockout round. Today, the final ticket for the Super Four round will be on the line in a battle that will go down in history between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The dramatic match between two Group B competitors will take place at the beautiful Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The same two teams square off against one another in the decisive matchup, just like in the previous edition. Both of them are well-known teams in continental cricket; Bangladesh has appeared in three of the previous four finals, while Sri Lanka has earned the second-most titles in the Asia Cup.

After playing their first game on the same field, the Men from Ceylon are familiar with the circumstances in Dubai. In contrast, the Bangla Tigers are visiting this venue for the first time in this edition. Know the key players to watch in today’s match SL vs BAN in Asia Cup 2022.

Wanindu Hasaranga

The only bowler from the Lankan side to record a wicket during their previous match was the spinner. Hasaranga bowled three overs against Afghanistan, allowing only 19 runs at an economy rate of 6.3 per over, and dismissed the excellent Rahmanullah Gurbaz.

The 25-year-old leg-break bowler’s only outing against the Green and Reds in the shortest format came against the Bangla Tigers at the T20 World Cup, and he failed to pick up a wicket.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa

The batter for Sri Lanka, Bhanuka Rajapaksa will be crucial against Bangladesh on Thursday. In Sri Lanka’s most recent game against Afghanistan, the 30-year-old middle-order batsman was the only player to stand out, scoring 38 runs off just 29 balls to help his team establish a score they could defend.

Maheesh Theekshana

The right-arm off-spinner has recently become one of Sri Lanka’s go-to bowlers in T20I cricket, having taken 16 wickets in 19 matches for an economy of 6.56. Theekshana might cause problems for the Bangladeshi hitters on a Dubai wicket that encourages spin.

Mosaddek Hossain

The 26-year-old bowling all-maturity against Afghanistan was their best performance in that losing game. When Bangladesh was five down with the score at 53, Mosaddek entered the crease. He then proceeded to play an unbeaten knock of 48 off 31 balls to help Bangladesh to a respectable total.

He not only prevented a batting collapse for the Green and Reds, but he also dismissed the dangerous Hazratullah Zazai with just 12 runs in 2.3 overs of bowling.

Kusal Mendis

For Sri Lanka, Kusal Mendis might be the other opener in the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 game. In the previous game, he was only dismissed for two runs. Mendis, a seasoned player for Sri Lanka, would be a wise decision to start the game. In the following game, the right-handed batsman will try to deliver a stronger performance. Kusal Mendis has a strike rate of 120.67 and 683 runs in 36 T20Is.
