    AB de Villiers Retirement

AB de Villiers has recently hinted at a potential return to cricket, more than three years after his retirement.

In an interview with journalist Melinda Farrell, de Villiers expressed that he might consider playing again, primarily motivated by his children.

    Key Highlights from the Interview

Casual Cricket Intentions: AB De Villiers clarified that any return would not involve professional leagues like the IPL or SA20. Instead, he is interested in playing “casual cricket” for enjoyment rather than competitive pressure.

He stated, “I might still play cricket one day… if I enjoy it, maybe I’ll walk out and go and play a little bit of casual cricket somewhere again.”

Family Influence: The former captain mentioned that his children are encouraging him to pick up the bat again. He noted, “My kids are putting me under a bit of pressure, and I feel like I could go to the nets with them”. This desire to play is seen as a way to bond with them while rediscovering his love for the game.

Health Considerations: De Villiers has faced some health challenges, particularly with blurred vision in his left eye due to an injury caused by his son. Despite this, he remains optimistic about trying out the game again, stating that his right eye is functioning well and he is eager to see if he can still enjoy playing.

No Pressure Environment: Emphasizing his preference for a relaxed atmosphere, de Villiers remarked, “I don’t want to feel that pressure again… wherever I go, I want to have a bit of fun” . This reflects his desire to step away from the high-stakes environment of professional cricket.
