Ask any women bowler from West Bengal as to who they look up to. The common answer would be the legendary Jhulan Goswami. The reverence and respect which the young girls have for their senior bowler is a testimony to the fact that Jhulan Goswami is a doyen of women’s cricket.

The “Chakda Express” as she is popularly known as, Jhulan Goswami is the highest wicket-taker in the ODI format in women’s cricket. She is the only bowler in women’s cricket to cross 250 wickets. A beacon of hope and inspiration, Goswami has changed the face of Indian women’s cricket with her stupendous performances.

In the 3rd and final ODI between India Women and England Women, Jhulan Goswami will be playing her final international match. The match is presently taking place at Lord’s Stadium in England and it is a fitting stadium to give a fitting tribute to the towering Jhulan Goswami.

If we take a look at her T20I career, then she has bagged 56 wickets in 68 games. In the longest format of the game, the 39-year-old has 44 wickets in 12 matches. Incredible numbers from an incredible bowler!

Having covered miles in international cricket, the champion bowler finally hangs her boots from international cricket after today’s game. He tall and lanky bowler has a lot of pace and that along with her impeccable line and length made her a dangerous and intimidating bowler.

Her career spans over 20 years and she was the bedrock of the women’s cricket team. With her retirement, a legacy would end. A legacy which defined hard-work and perseverance.

Jhulan Goswami has an excellent economy of 3.37 in ODI cricket and there was no bowler who could match up to her burning passion and desire. Her retirement would create a huge void in the Indian women’s team.
