After a long gap of four years, the highly anticipated third edition of GT20 Canada is set to captivate fans once again. Beginning on July 20th in Brampton, the GT20 Canada will span over 18 days, treating spectators to a thrilling display of cricket in 25 captivating matches.
Renowned T20 legends such as Yuvraj Singh, Chris Gayle, and Lasith Malinga have graced the previous two seasons of the tournament with their exceptional skills. This year, fans can expect another star-studded spectacle as eminent players like Harbhajan Singh, Shahid Afridi, Andre Russell, and many other top names.
In an exciting twist, the defending champions, Winnipeg Hawks, and the Edmonton Royals have been replaced by two fresh teams: Surrey Jaguars and Mississauga Panthers. These newcomers will strive to leave their mark on the tournament, intensifying the competition and raising the stakes even higher.
To promote the growth and development of cricket in Canada, each team is limited to a squad of 16 players. Out of these, six international players, four players from Associate nations, and six local players will showcase their talents, fostering a diverse and inclusive environment within the sport.
There will be 21 matches in the league stage of the competition, with each team playing seven of them. The format of the league stage may be similar to that of the IPL, with the six teams being split into two virtual groups. Check the complete GT20 Canada squad details.
