After every single Indian Premier League (IPL) season, fans of MS Dhoni, keep wondering, whether that particular edition, was his swan song. MS Dhoni, one of India’s former legendary captains, is 44 years of age, and is in the twilight of his career.

After Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of IPL 2025 post a few matches, MS Dhoni took over the reigns of captaincy. There were talks of his retirement but MS Dhoni once again didn’t give clarity about his retirement plans, post the completion of IPL 2025.

During a recent event, Dhoni was asked about his retirement plans and he has now shed some light over his topic.

“I have always said that there is a lot of time for me to decide, but if you are asking about coming back in a yellow jersey I will always be in a yellow jersey, whether I am playing or not, is a different matter. Me and CSK, we are together,” Dhoni said during an event recently. “You know, even for the next 15-20 years (crowd cheers). I hope they don’t think I’ll be playing for another 15-20 years,” said MS Dhoni.

MS Dhoni acknowledged that over the years, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has helped him grow as a person.

“I feel the relationship over the years has grown. It helped me improve as a person. It helped me improve as a cricketer. CSK just happened. I think it’s good for Chennai. So, today it’s good for me also,” he said.

Post IPL 2023, CSK haven’t been very consistent and for the once time since the inception of this league, the Chennai-based franchise has failed to qualify for the IPL playoffs on two consecutive seasons.

MS Dhoni admitted to not having the best of seasons off late but focussed on ‘learnings’.

“Yes, the last couple of years have not been good for us. We have not been up to the mark. But what is important is for you to see the learnings. Yes, you had a bad season. But what went wrong? And that was the question for us last year also,” Dhoni concluded.
