    India suffered a heart-breaking 6-wicket loss at the hands of Australia in the finals of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Rohit Sharma and co. failed to cross the final frontier at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 19th November 2023.

    Batting first, India posted a below-par score of 240 runs and it was the first step towards the inevitable heartbreak. Virat Kohli once again scored a half-century by absorbing the pressure but failed to convert it into a big total.

    In response, Australia chased down the total with 42 balls remaining. The loss would hurt India a lot in the future and would sting them a lot.

    The Australian pacers and spinners were right on their money and blew the steam off the sails of India’s batting order. Mitchell Starc bagged 3 wickets while skipper Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood took 2 wickets each.

    Part-time spinners in the form of Glenn Maxwell and Travis Head too performed well and the former took the priceless wicket of India’s skipper, Rohit Sharma. He was dismissed for 47 runs in just 31 balls.

    3. Travis Head’s remarkable century

    The sheer class and consistency of Travis Head once again floated up as he scored a brilliant ton and guided Australia to a fantastic victory in the finals. Head scored 137 runs in the finals and was the cynosure of all eyes.

    Notably, Head had scored 163 runs and 18 runs in the 2 innings of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 and was the player of the match in this game.
