The ICC Men’s Player of the Month for December 2022 went to England’s youngster batsman Harry Brook, who defeated Pakistani captain Babar Azam and Australian batsman Travis Head in a close race. The 23-year-old was nominated for the top award for the first time, and he won it after a fantastic tour of Pakistan.
The 23-year-old, who finished the series with the most runs scored (468 in 3 games), was instrumental in England’s 3-0 rout of Pakistan. In Jonny Bairstow’s absence, Brook proved to be the ideal replacement for the “BazBall” strategy and slid into the middle of the order with ease. Brook’s runs were scored at a remarkable strike rate of 93.41.
The young player, who was taking part in just his second Test, produced scores of 153 and 87 in Rawalpindi’s first game of the series. His first-inning century came off just 116 balls as he dismantled Pakistan’s bowling lineup to establish the tone for the remainder of the series.
For his amazing bat skills, Brook was crowned Player of the Series. He now rounds off the year with yet another achievement as ICC Player of the Month for December 2022.
Honour to have won the ICC Player of the Month
Brook stated that being a part of England’s win over Pakistan in Pakistan was a dream come true for him.
“It is an honor to have won the ICC Player of the Month for December. To win a Test series 3-0 in Pakistan was an incredible achievement and contributing with the bat in my first Test tour with England was a dream come true,” Brook said, as quoted by the ICC.
