Surya Kumar Yadav has been one of the most exciting players to watch out for in the T20I format. He is the world’s number 1 T20I batter and has revolutionized the whole T20I format with his explosive and buccaneering batting.

Having made his debut against England on 14th March 2021, Surya Kumar Yadav has cemented his place in the T20I side of India. Yadav will be captaining the young Indian side and has to shoulder a lot of responsibilities.

India will be facing Australia, days after suffering a heart-wrenching 6-wicket loss at the hands of the same opposition in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 finals. Yadav will be hoping to exorcise the ghosts of this game through the 3-match T20I series.

In this article, we take a look at 3 reasons why Surya Kumar Yadav can perform well as a captain in the 3-match T20I series:

    1. Surya Kumar Yadav is the number 1 T20I batter

Following his consistent run in this format and his aggressive and explosive batting, Surya Kumar Yadav became the number 1 T20I format. He is one of the best T20I batters of all time and has a wide repertoire of shots under his belt.

Surya Kumar Yadav will get a lot of confidence when he leads the side, knowing that he is the best player in this format at the moment.

    2. Brings the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 experience

Even though he had a rough patch with the willow in the recently-concluded ICC ODI World Cup 2023, Surya Kumar Yadav will be getting the experience along side him. He has played against Australia on 2 occasions in the World Cup and will be experienced in facing them.

Plus, he is the only player in the first 2 T20Is, who was a part of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 team of India. Shreyas Iyer will be joining the team for the 3rd T20I.

    3. Knows the players inside out

Surya Kumar Yadav has played with most of the cricketers in the present Indian cricket team. He will be extremely confident and would get along with the players really well. His presence will give a lot of confidence to the players who will be in the team.

Yadav would be hoping that he has a good start to his captaincy career and would be hoping to outclass the opponents at their home turf.
