One of the great players for Australia’s team, Glenn Maxwell, spent a considerable amount of time leaving his squad. He was battling an injury. But, it has since come to light that he might be spotted staging a comeback. India and Australia are currently playing their Test series, and then they will play their three-match ODI series.
According to head coach Andrew McDonald, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell will start for Australia in the ODI series against India if he recovers in time. Maxwell was contending for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but a fractured leg prevented him from joining the squad. He has displayed encouraging signs of a successful return to the pitch in both a current Sheffield Shield game for Victoria and in Premier Cricket.
The IPL 2023 kicks off on March 31 while the final ODI of the series between Australia and India is on March 22. Although the Australia squad for the One Day series has not yet been revealed, it is anticipated that Glenn Maxwell will be included if the team will be announced. The player Glenn Maxwell has participated in the IPL for a number of different teams, but this time he will represent RCB. He was retained by RCB ahead of IPL 2023 auction.
IND vs AUS – ODI Series Schedule
- 1st ODI on March 17 at The Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai
- 2nd ODI on March 19 at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam

Maxwell will be a starter for that ODI series
All-rounder Glenn Maxwell will “starter” for Australia in the ODI series against India, according to head coach Andrew McDonald, assuming he gets fit in time. The Test series against India will put a lot of strain on Maxwell, who has yet to begin bowling.
“If he (Maxwell) gets through everything that he needs to then he will be a starter for that one-day series (against India that follows the Tests). Anything forward of that will be discussed,” McDonald was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.
Long journey over the last 3 months
Following Australia’s elimination from the T20 World Cup in 2022, Maxwell broke his leg. The all-around player slipped at a friend’s party and needed surgery before beginning his three-and-a-half month-long rehabilitation.
“It’s been a pretty long journey over the last 3 and half months, so a lot of early morning sessions, gym, rehab, pool sessions, physio,” Glenn Maxwell was quoted as saying by Fox Sports.
“To feel like I am at the back end of that now and able to play some cricket is something I’m proud of.”
The injury will nag at me for the rest of my life
The unexpected injury will “probably nag” Maxwell for the rest of his life, and he regrets missing the Test series against India.
“Probably will nag at me for the rest of my life,” said Maxwell while doing commentary during a Big Bash League game on Fox Cricket.
“It’s nice getting the opportunity to watch your teammates play, especially over there. I think they’ve got the squad that’s probably as good as I’ve seen go over to India since I’ve been watching Tests over there, anyway.”
