India began their 3-match T20I series against Bangladesh with a dominating 7-wicket victory on 6th October 2024. Both the debutants in the form of Mayank Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy played their parts to ensure that India win the 1st game at Gwalior.

Mayank Yadav, who was playing his first competitive game since the end of April, dazzled on his debut and sent shockwaves down the spines of the opposition batters. He played a huge role in making sure that India win the game and take a 1-0 lead.

Yadav took 1 wicket and it was Mahmudullah’s wicket. He also had a good economy rate of 5.25 and had started his international career with a solid maiden. This reassured everyone that he is an asset to Surya Kumar Yadav and co.

Former Indian wicket-keeper batter Parthiv Patel garnished praise on Mayank Yadav and applauded his debut performances.

“The highlight for me is Mayank Yadav. I think the way he made his debut, to play with lot of expectations and reputation is not easy. When you’re expecting 150-plus, if you want to bowl at 150 kmph that is a hard task, just to show no nerves, I think Mayank Yadav has been the highlight for me today,” said Parthiv Patel in a conversation with host broadcaster, Sports 18.

Mayank Yadav had hogged the limelight in IPL 2024

Despite playing just 3 games in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Mayank Yadav, stole the limelight and became the cynosure of all eyes. He consistently clocked 150 KMPH+ deliveries and sent thunderbolts down the spines of the opposition batters.

He had suffered a grade 1 tear (side strain) in the 17th edition of the tournament and that cut short his entire campaign for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Nevertheless, the IPL’s tendency to unearth hidden gems of Indian cricket keeps on continuing.

India next cross swords with Bangladesh on 9th October 2024 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The match is slated to begin from 7:00 PM (IST).
