On November 25 (Friday), the Indian cricket team will face off against New Zealand in the first of a three-match ODI series. The World Super League, which includes this ODI series, has India in first place with 129 points, while New Zealand is rated sixth with 115 points.
India has managed the workload of its cricketers in this series by resting Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and other players. Shikhar Dhawan has a fantastic chance to present a strong case for himself. Given the skipper, he will be hopeful that the side performs well when playing against a strong New Zealand lineup.
Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand, was one of the well-known players released by Sunrisers Hyderabad on IPL 2023 retentions. Williamson led SRH in the IPL 2022, although they came in eighth out of ten teams. Before the major auction of the previous year, Williamson was retained as the top pick. Williamson had a savvy response when asked about his chances at the auction before IPL 2023.
Kane Williamson on IPL
After being released by SunRisers Hyderabad, captain Kane Williamson was asked by reporters if he will be selected in the IPL 2023 auction prior to the first ODI match.
“In terms of the auction. You know I’ll have to wait and see. It’s certainly not up to me. People make decisions about their team and what they are after. That’s the nature of how it works,” said Williamson.
“I still love playing all three formats. I enjoy switching between the three. As a player, I’m always looking to keep improving. I still have that motivation. It was a bit frustrating, the other night. That’s the way it goes sometimes. I’m still looking at the areas where I can add value,” he added.
Williamson IPL career
Williamson spent eight years with SRH, and he often led them as their captain. The popular right-hander has scored the third-most runs for the squad, after David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan. Williamson scored 2110 runs in 76 games, averaging 36 runs per contest.
Williamson will participate in the mini-auction that will happen the following month. It will be intriguing to see who bets on the seasoned campaigner at a time when his stock as a T20 cricket player is declining.
