India registered a consolation victory in the 3rd and final T20I between India and England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. Harmanpreet Kaur and co. registered a 5-wicket victory over the Lionesses and reeled off some pride and prestige.

After losing the plot in both the opening encounters in this series, Team India salvaged a win after some stupendous bowling performances. They bowled out England for 126 and then chased it down in 19 overs.

Nat Sciver-Brunt bagged the player of the series award for her consistent performances and this was quite a memorable series for her.

In this article, we take a look at the top 3 talking points of the 3rd IND-W vs ENG-W T20I, which was played at the Wankhede Stadium:

    1. Two memorable bowling performances from debutants in this series

Saika Ishaque and Shreyanka Patil both made their debut in this series and this would be quite memorable for them, especially this T20I. Both of them bagged 3 wickets and restricted England to a paltry score of 126 in the 1st innings.

While Saika Ishaque dismissed Alice Capsey, Amy Jones and Danielle Gibson, Patil took the wickets of Bess Heath, Freya Kemp and Sophie Ecclestone. The duo’s bowling performances did more than half the job for India.

    2. Skipper Heather Knight’s half-century went in vain

Heather Knight led from the front and mustered a solid knock of 52 runs in 42 deliveries. Her knock was packed with 3 fours and 3 sixes and she was the pivot around which the whole batting of England revolved around.

But in the end, it went in vain as she failed to receive support from the other batters of England. England were eventually dismissed for a below-par score, that made it difficult for their bowlers to defend.

    3. Smriti Mandhana’s top knock at the top

After failing in the 1st 2 T20Is, Smriti Mandhana staged a supreme comeback in the 3rd T20I in Mumbai. She scored 48 runs in 48 balls and played a cautious knock at the top. Mandhana’s knock was laced with 5 fours and 2 sixes and even though she took her time, she did make sure that the pressure wasn’t built.

Jemimah Rodrigues continued her good form and scored 29 runs in 33 deliveries in this 3rd T20I at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
