India Announces Squad for Physically Disabled Champions Trophy 2025

    The Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI) has officially announced the Indian squad for the upcoming Physically Disabled Champions Trophy, which will take place in Sri Lanka from January 12 to January 21, 2025. 

    This tournament marks the first occurrence of the event since 2019, and India is set to kick off its campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on the opening day.

    The selection of the squad followed an intensive training camp held in Jaipur, where players showcased their skills to the selection panel. 

    The camp was led by Rohit Jhalani, who serves as both the head coach of the physically disabled Indian cricket team and a former captain of Rajasthan’s Ranji Trophy team. 

    After careful consideration, a 17-member squad was finalized for this prestigious tournament.

    Vikrant Ravindra Keni (Captain, Mumbai), Ravindra Gopinath Sante (vice-captain, Mumbai), Yogender Singh (WK, MP), Akhil Reddy (AP), Radhika Prasad (UP), Dependra Singh (WK, UP), Akash Anil Patil (Mumbai), Sunny Goyat (Haryana), Pawan Kumar (Haryana), Jithendra (Karnataka), Narendra (Karnataka), Rajesh (Karnataka), Nikhil Manhas (J&K), Amir Hassan (J&K), Majid Magray (J&K), Kunal Dattatray Phanase (Maharashtra), Surendra (Rajasthan).

    Non-traveling players: Jaswant Singh (Rajasthan), Sadiq (Delhi), GS Shivashankara (Karnataka).

    Coach’s Remarks

    Rohit Jhalani expressed confidence in the team’s capabilities, stating, “It is a very balanced team equipped to take on any opponent. 

    Team India is going to create history at this tournament, and this is the time to cheer and support the team.” He encouraged fans to rally behind the players on social media using the hashtag #dumhaiteammai.

    India’s matches in the tournament are as follows:

    • January 12, 2025: India vs Pakistan, 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM
    • January 13, 2025: India vs England, 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM
    • January 15, 2025: India vs Sri Lanka, 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM
    • January 16, 2025: India vs Pakistan, 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM
    • January 18, 2025: India vs England, 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM
    • January 19, 2025: India vs Sri Lanka, 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM
    • January 21, 2025: Mega Final
