Rishabh Pant, a well-known Indian cricketer, was injured in an unfortunate accident on Friday morning, December 30, in Roorkee. Around 5:30 am, the 25-year-old cricketer’s car crashed into a divider and caught fire. Pant managed to escape by shattering the windscreen, although he was badly hurt. At the Max Hospital in Dehradun, he is currently getting hospital treatment.
The official update regarding Pant’s ailments was provided in a statement that the BCCI issued. The right knee of the left-handed wicketkeeper-batter has a torn ligament. He also has abrasions on his back, right wrist, ankle, and toe injuries, as well as two cuts on his forehead.
The batsman will need at least three to six months to recover from these injuries, and as a result, he is unlikely to play in the IPL 2023.
The Delhi Capitals team, which is vying for its first IPL championship, will have a new captain for the upcoming season (IPL-2023). Pant was serving as the team’s captain, but he would find it challenging to participate this season due to the accident. The Delhi squad is looking for a captain in such a circumstance. Know the 3 players who can be the captain of Delhi IPL 2023 instead of Pant.
David Warner
In IPL-2023, the veteran Australian David Warner may be given the captaincy of the Delhi Capitals franchise. David Warner has leadership qualities. Under his leadership, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the IPL championship. He is considered to be the best candidate in such a scenario. Although he will never be able to captain the Australian team, CA might place some obstacles in the way in this circumstance. Warner’s involvement in ball-tampering resulted in a lifetime ban in 2018.
Prithvi Shaw
Mumbai’s young batsman Prithvi Shaw can also be given the duty if Warner’s captaincy is in doubt, he declines to accept it, or the franchise itself decides against it. Prithvi Shaw has led teams in cricket for under-19s. He now competes in the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai in domestic cricket. Prior to the IPL auction, the Delhi Capitals squad decided to retain Shaw.
Mitchell Marsh
Marsh has never led a side in the IPL, but if he get chance he will be able to do so in IPL 2023. The 31-year-old all-rounder has experience leading teams in Australian domestic cricket as well as managing the Australia U-19 squad to a championship victory in 2010. After Australia’s ball-tampering incident, he was appointed vice-captain of the Australia Test team. He can be one of the contenders for DC future captain.
