IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Players With INR 2 Crore Base Price Might Remain UNSOLD

Date:

For the 87 spots open in the 10 teams for the IPL 2023, a total of 991 players have listed themselves. Out of those, 21 have signed up at the most expensive base fee of Rs. 2 crores, and surprisingly, all of them are overseas players.

Teams’ purse amounts are less than they were the previous year because it is a mini-auction. Additionally, with only 30 overseas places available this year, there is a good probability that some of them won’t be filled as teams search for more affordable possibilities.

The IPL auction’s dynamics frequently determine a player’s future in terms of money. Some high bids players were warming the bench and some players who were auctioned on their base price were proved to be the game changers. Know the 3 players who are in 2 crore base price bands but most likely to remain unsold during the IPL 2023 auction.

Craig Overton

Craig Overton, an all-round bowler for England, has listed himself in the INR 2 crore range, although his T20 statistics have been, to put it mildly, pretty ordinary. The 28-year-old may struggle to gain a spot in any team in the IPL with 70 wickets under his belt from the same amount of games in the shortest format of the game.

When it comes to his batting, Overton can overwhelm the opposition, but he still needs to improve his consistency. The Englishman has so far scored 347 runs at a strike rate of 123.04 in 70 games. As a result, a team searching for a finisher in the death overs may consider other alternatives with better stats at a comparable cost.

Angelo Mathews

Despite being dropped from the national T20 team, former Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews, 35, may still be a significant addition to any squad given his track record. The likelihood of any team shelling out 2 crores for a cricketer who hasn’t played in a T20 match in the last six months is extremely slim.

Mathews scored 2788 runs at a strike rate of 119.55 in the 173 games he participated in under the game’s shortest format. He racked up 85 wickets in the same number of matches, demonstrating that his bowling ability may provide him a competitive advantage.

Chris Lynn

There is not much demand for Lynn in the market because almost every team has secured their season-opening starters. more so in light of his recent success under adverse conditions in India. His struggles with swing are no longer a secret, so he could be a liability for that price.

However, his overall statistics are indicative of the quality he possesses. Lynn scored 1329 runs at a 140.63 strike rate in 42 IPL games. However, his past success could not be enough to help him create a prosperous future and he might stay unsold until 2022.
