Mumbai Indians (MI) have launched their new jersey ahead of the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which is just around the corner. On Friday, March 10, the jersey was released on the team’s official Twitter account, and the reaction from the fans was immediate.
The colour scheme was created by Shantanu and Nikhil and continues to be the traditional MI blue and gold. There aren’t many noteworthy changes because blue and gold are still popular. The MI team jersey has gold stripes on either side and a mixture of bright and dark blue. Beyond work and quality, the city, the culture, the fight, and the aspiration serve as the inspiration for the team’s uniform.
In first, the fans buying the new jersey will get the chance to personalise it by getting their names on the back, along with a number of their choice.
The team jersey is a reflection of the ethos of MI
Speaking on the unveiling, a Mumbai Indians spokesperson, said, “Our team jersey is a reflection of the ethos of Mumbai Indians. Over the years, Mumbai Indians have been home to many aspirations which have emerged as inspiring stories. This is synonymous with the spirit of Mumbai which opens its arms with opportunities to every individual who dreams and believes in his future.
“We look forward to stepping onto the field with the support and passion of our fans as we don this jersey.”
MI will be eager for IPL 2023
Mumbai Indians, who only managed four victories in their 14 games during the 2022 season, would be hoping that things will improve under Rohit Sharma this time around.
In the 16th IPL, the Mumbai Indians will try to win an unprecedented sixth championship. On April 2, Mark Boucher’s team will begin the season by taking against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at their home stadium, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Jasprit Bumrah’s injury could make it difficult for the Rohit Sharma-led team to fill a sizable vacuum. But, they may be able to address their concerns about fast bowling by utilising their arsenal of players like Jofra Archer, Jhye Richardson, and Jason Behrendorff.
Experience comes with Piyush Chawla, Kumar Karthikeya and Hrithik Shokeen bringing to the mix of youth and variety, which helps the bowling setup efficiently.
