Former Indian legendary off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is all set to part ways with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as per a report. The bowling all-rounder had played for CSK in IPL 2025 and didn’t have the best of seasons.

As per a report by CricBuzz, Ashwin has communicated the decision with the top brass of CSK and it has been mutually agreed upon. MS Dhoni and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been in Chennai and it is believed that the franchise has started to think about the future plans in IPL 2026.

Notably, Chennai have had a dismal couple of seasons in the IPL. The 5-time champions haven’t been able to advance to the IPL playoffs in 2024 and 2025 and need a strong overhaul of things.

Ashwin is all set to relinquish his position of Director Of Operations at the Chennai Super Kings Academy. If he decides to join another franchise then it could well mean Conflict Of Interest and hence Ashwin might not continue with this role.

Notably, Ashwin is from Chennai and had spent the initial stages of his IPL career in CSK under the leadership of Dhoni.

Ravichandran Ashwin had a mediocre IPL 2025 performance

The 38-year-old cricketer played 9 matches for CSK and managed to give mediocre dividends. He bagged 7 wickets and mustered only 33 runs in this season and was benched for a lot of matches.

Ashwin had a poor average of 40.43 and failed to create the impact with the ball – purely based on his own cricketing standards.

He has been a prolific player in international cricket and called it quits from international cricket in the middle of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 (BGT).

Ashwin will go down as one of the most legendary players, Indian Cricket has ever produced. He has a razor-sharp cricketing mind and consistently outfoxed the opposition batters.
