After temporarily being the captain of the South Africa women’s team for the series against Pakistan and New Zealand, Laura Wolvaardt is all set to be the full-time skipper of the Proteas, across all the formats.
As per a few reports, the 24-year-old is set to be given her first assignment as the full-time leader of the side in the series versus Bangladesh women at home in December 2023. Notably, the two sides will be playing 3 T20Is followed by 3 ODIs in the last month of this calendar year.
Laura Wolvaardt had taken up the role of a captain on a temporary basis as she wanted to check whether her batting performances are affected or not. But as per ESPNCricinfo, Wolvaardt is all set to take it up on a full-time basis after her stellar performances in both the series.
Wolvaardt has a stunning average of 45.6 in ODIs and has amassed 3421 runs in 86 matches. In 59 T20Is so far, she has mustered 1313 runs and has a strike-rate of 111.4.
