As New Zealand declared their innings against Pakistan at 612/9 on Day 4 of the ongoing first Test match at National Stadium in Karachi, Kane Williamson reached his fifth double-century in Test matches. A big lead of 174 runs has been taken by the visitors.
After his innings, the New Zealand team’s position in the first Test against Pakistan, which it played for the first time in 20 years, has strengthened. After losing 6 wickets on the fourth day, New Zealand began playing ahead of 440 runs in response to Pakistan’s 438 in the first innings.
On 105, Williamson was unbeaten. Together with Ish Sodhi, they put on a 159-run partnership for the seventh wicket. He was strongly assisted by Sodhi, who scored 65 runs in one inning.
With a five-wicket haul, Abrar Ahmed was Pakistan’s best bowler. Earlier, the hosts’ first innings score was 438 all out with to 161 from Babar Azam and 103 from Agha Salman.
