Former Australian speedster Shaun Tait has been announced as the bowling coach of Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, Quetta Gladiators. This decision came in a few days after former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson was announced as the Head Coach of the franchise based out of Quetta.
Shaun Tait was the bowling coach of the Pakistan cricket team from February 2022 to the early part of 2023 and was previously also the bowling consultant of the Afghanistan national cricket team.
“Hi everyone, Shaun Tait here. I can happily announce that I’ll be the bowling coach for the Quetta Gladiators for the upcoming HBL PSL. I would like to thank Mr Nadeem Omar for trusting me with the bowling group and bowlers like Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Wasim Jr and some real great talent,” said Shaunt Tait in a video released by Quetta Gladiators.
Quetta Gladiators have some exciting prospects in the bowling department
One of the most exciting franchises in the PSL, Quetta Gladiators have a few formidable names in their bowling ranks. The likes of Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Hasnain and Mohammad Wasim Jr are a part of Quetta Gladiators and form the backbone of the bowling department of this team in the popular Pakistan Super League.
Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Wasim Jr will be representing Quetta Gladiators from the next season after being traded in from Karachi Kings and Islamabad United, respectively.
This team is captained by Sarfaraz Ahmed
One of the most successful captains of Pakistan of all-time, Sarfaraz Ahmed is in-charge of Quetta Gladiators in the PSL. Shaun Tait would heave a sigh of relief as Ahmed is at the helm and he has several years of experience under his belt.
Quetta Gladiators will have to address their consistency issues ahead of the brand new PSL season. They had qualified for the finals on 3 occasions in the first 4 editions of PSL but their performances have tapered off in the last few seasons.
The Sarfaraz Ahmed-led side hasn’t been able to reach the PSL playoffs in the last 4 editions and this is a big area of concern for them.
Quetta Gladiators had finished with the wooden spoon in the previous edition of the PSL. They had managed to notch up only 3 wins in 10 games and had 7 losses in their kitty. A major change in their approach will be able to take them past the finishing line from this edition.
