Ranbir Kapoor Set To Play Lead Role In Sourav Ganguly Biopic, Other Cast To Be Announced

Date:

Sourav Ganguly, a former captain of the Indian cricket team, claimed in September 2021 that his biopic would be released shortly, and things were just getting started. The most important part of movie has been finalised as Bollywood hunk Ranbir Kapoor will play the character of Sourav in the biography.

Although there were rumours that Ranbir would play Ganguly, the producers had not yet made any official announcements. Currently, if media sources are to be believed, the A-lister has been cast in the lead role.

Ranbir is apparently planning to visit Sourav’s home in Kolkata, his team, and the Eden Gardens Stadium to prepare for his character before the biopic’s filming starts. Love Films will produce the movie.

In addition, Ranbir will soon be seen with Shraddha Kapoor in Luv Ranjan’s romantic comedy Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. Fans can’t wait to watch this new couple on the big screen for the first time. Brahmastra, which starred Ranbir’s wife Alia Bhatt, was a popular movie. Moreover, Rashmika Mandanna and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal are anticipated by RK.

The Sourav Ganguly biography, which features their favourite Indian cricket legend, has been eagerly anticipated by all cricket fans. Although the release date of the biography is unknown, new sources indicate that the actor who would play the lead role has already been chosen.

Ranbir Kapoor’s dates created the delay

According to earlier reports, the delay in confirmation was triggered by difficulty with Kapoor’s shooting schedule. The 50-year-old cricketer will be portrayed in film by the young celebrity, according to an ETimes report.

Some well-known Bollywood actors, like Hrithik Roshan and Sidharth Malhotra, began to circulate on social media in the past as interest in the actor who would portray Ganguly in his biopic grew.

The much-discussed biopic was revealed in 2019. But the actor who will portray the renowned cricketer hasn’t been confirmed, rumours claim that it will be Kapoor.

Sourav Ganguly Biopic: Other casts to be finalised

The rest of the cast has not been decided upon, with the exception of Ranbir Kapoor, who has been cast in the starring role. There were also rumours that MS Dhoni will have a small role in the Ganguly film, but nothing has been confirmed. Ranbir is the sole actor who has been chosen for the part as of now. The Bollywood actor will shortly start preparing for it. He is now very busy promoting his forthcoming movie opposite Shraddha Kapoor. Ranbir will probably then start filming the Ganguly biopic after that.

Ganguly has delayed selecting the actor he believes would be the ideal choice to portray him on-screen for a number of years. There have been rumours recently that Ganguly met with several producers in Mumbai to discuss his biopic and the final casting for the movie. The meeting’s details were kept private.

Ganguly’s biopic will be big budget movie

The much-discussed biopic is expected to have a big budget, between 200 and 250 crores, according to reports. In order to maintain authenticity, Ganguly is reviewing the script himself. He previously stated that he is not in a rush to complete the film because he wants to ensure that all of the facts are accurate. Now that he has apparently agreed to the script’s final draught, filming will begin soon in Kolkata.

Ranbir has expertise in biopics. In the Rajkumar Hirani movie Sanju, he previously played actor Sanjay Dutt. The actor’s portrait of the damaged star earned him nearly all acting awards during the awards season the following year.
