India’s premier red-ball domestic tournament, the Ranji Trophy is the most competitive domestic tournament in India. The Ranji Trophy 2022-23 edition commenced on December 13 and we witnessed some stellar performances on the group stage.

In the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 edition, Sarfraz Khan of Mumbai smashed 982 runs and emerged as the highest run-getter of the tournament. He is in fine form and is continuing his good form in the 2022-23 edition as well.

The quarter-finals of the Ranji Trophy 2022-23 commenced today and in this article, we take a look at 5-star performers in the group stage:

1. Dhruv Shorey (Delhi)

Delhi batter Dhruv Shorey has been in exceptional form in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23. He has mustered 860 runs in just 12 innings and has a mind-boggling average of 95.56.

Dhruv’s highest score in this edition has been 252(315). This fabulous knock was scored against Assam and it underlined his brilliance with the bat.

2. Kedar Jadhav (Maharashtra)

Indian veteran all-rounder Kedar Jadhav made a comeback into professional cricket after a hiatus of one and a half years.

He has been in exceptional form in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2022-23 and mustered knocks of 283, 56, 71, and 128. Jadhav surely rolled back the clock and activated his beast mode in the tournament.

3. Jalaj Saxena (Kerala)

Jalaj Saxena is a veteran of the domestic circuit of India. He recently completed 400 first-class wickets and even at the age of 36, he is going extremely strong.

Saxena is the leading wicket-taker of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2022-23 and has bagged 50 wickets so far with an average of 19.26.

Jalaj Saxena has been a proven performer for Kerala in the domestic circuit. As Kerala failed to qualify for the knockouts, we won’t be seeing Saxena in action anymore.

4. Shams Mulani (Mumbai)

Left-arm batting all-rounder Shams Mulani has been among the wickets in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23. He has so far notched up 46 wickets in 7 matches and is second in the list of the highest wicket-takers.

Mulani has been a sensational figure for Mumbai and has been breathing fire with both the bat and the ball.

5. Sachin Baby (Kerala)

We all remember Sachin Baby to be the tear-eyed youngster who had a watershed moment at the non-striker’s crease during the final ball of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 final between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

It is that very youngster who is ruling the roost presently with the bat in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2022-23, at the age of 34. Baby has mustered 830 runs in 13 innings for Kerala. He has an outstanding average of 83.00.
