Rishabh Pant, the captain of the Delhi Capitals and a star wicketkeeper-batsman for India, would not play in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Sourav Ganguly, the team’s recently hired Director of Cricket, confirmed on January 10 (Tuesday). While Rishabh is absent for the foreseeable future, DC is looking for a new captain.
“Rishabh Pant will not be available for the IPL. I am in connection with DC. It will be a great IPL. We will do well. Rishabh Pant’s Injury will affect DC,” Sourav Ganguly told reporters in Kolkata.
On December 30, 2022, the prominent Indian cricketer was involved in a terrible car accident and suffered horrifying injuries. Pant received successful surgery for a ligament tear in his right knee on January 6 (Friday) after suffering the injury.
A medical team led by Dr. Pardiwala performed the procedure at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Pant took the medication well and was kept under close surveillance for three days.
