The first edition of the SA20 League, which is South Africa’s premier T20 franchise tournament is already underway. This unique tournament with its unique rules and regulations has caught the eyeballs of several cricket fanatics and cricket romantics.

All the team owners of the different teams are Indians and a lot of them own Indian Premier League (IPL) teams. Therefore, the name of a few franchises are MI Cape Town (Mumbai Indians in IPL), Paarl Royals (Rajasthan Royals in IPL) and Sunrisers Eastern Cape (Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL) among many other franchises.

SA20 League has several high-profile players playing in it. The beauty of T20 cricket lies in players who can breathe fire and contribute heavily to their team’s good performance. In this article, we take a look at 5 players who can set the stage on fire in the SA20 League:

1.Dewald Brevis (MI Cape Town)

Acquired by Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2022 mega auction for Rs. 3 crores, Dewald Brevis had announced himself to the world stage in IPL 2022. Nicknamed as “Baby AB” as a tribute to the former legendary South African batter AB De Villiers because he can play shots all across the park, Dewald Brevis is a sensational player. He will be opening the innings for MI Cape Town in the SA20 League and we can expect him to power his side to some remarkable starts in the powerplay.

2. Anrich Nortje (Pretoria Capitals)

A tearaway pacer, Anrich Nortje can send shivers down the spines of opposition bowlers with his raw pace. The tall and lanky pacer, Nortje is one of the best pacers currently in contemporary cricket. He has played 29 T20Is for the Proteas and has bagged 35 wickets. Anrich Nortje will be spearheading the bowling attack of Pretoria Capitals in the SA20 League.

3. Jason Holder (Durban Super Giants)

One of the most prolific all-rounders in the world currently, Jason Holder is an indispensable part of any T20 team across the globe. The former skipper of West Indies, Holder can hit those monstrous sixes with his bat and can also bowl with good pace and accuracy. He will be an all-rounder to watch out for in the SA20 League.

4. Quiton de Kock (Durban Super Giants)

The skipper of Durban Super Giants, Quinton de Kock will be one of the players Durban would be heavily counting on. Having retired from Test cricket in December 2021, de Kock plays only white-ball cricket and is a white-ball specialist. He has incredible T20 numbers and has amassed 2156 T20I runs for South Africa in 77 matches.

5. Faf du Plessis (Joburg Super Kings)

A veteran opening batter and one with a razor-sharp cricketing mind, Faf du Plessis is sure to set the SA20 League on fire. He will be spearheading the Joburg Super Kings team and a lot of expectations will be thrust upon him. Faf was named the skipper of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise in IPL 2022 and powered his side to a 3rd placed finish in the cash-rich tournament.
