Social media influencer Sapna Gill who has a fight with Prithvi has filed the application of an FIR against Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw and others for allegedly insulting her modesty at a police station in Mumbai.
A magistrate court on Monday granted bail to Gill, who was detained last week along with a few others in connection with an attack on Shaw after a dispute over taking pictures at a hotel in a nearby neighborhood.
She filed an FIR against Shaw, his friend Ashish Yadav, and other individuals on Monday through her lawyer Kaashif Ali Khan at the Airport police station in Andheri for suspected molestation and outraging modesty.
“Criminal complaint registered against Prithvi Shaw, Ashish Surendra Yadav, Brijesh & others (not known to complainant) for illegal acts of molesting and outraging the modesty of Sapna Gill under section 34, 120b, 144, 146, 148, 149, 323, 324, 351, 354 & 509 of IPC,” Advocate Ali Kaashif Deshmukh was quoted by news agency ANI.
Thakur was helpless and was unable to defend
According to Gill’s application, she and her friend Shobhit Thakur frequent the upscale club, where the latter saw Shaw who was apparently intoxicated and partying with others.
The appeal said that Thakur, a cricket lover, approached Shaw for a selfie and was received with hostility.
“Thakur, who is just a teenager, was unaware of the brutality of the drunken mob. Thakur was helpless and was unable to defend himself. Hence, she (Gill) intervened and entered the fray trying to stop Shaw and others from further harming and injuring Thakur,” as per the application.
It was stated that Shaw, who was at the time “inebriated,” heard Gill beg and plead with him.
According to Gill’s appeal, Shaw insulted her modesty, a violation of Indian Criminal Code Section 354 (molestation) and other sections.
During an argument over taking selfies that erupted in the opulent hotel in the early hours of February 15, Shaw is accused of being physically assaulted and having his car damaged with a baseball bat.
Gill was arrested last week
Thakur (19) was detained on February 18 according to police, while Gill was taken into custody on February 16.
According to the complaint of Shaw’s friend Ashish Yadav, eight people were charged with rioting, assault, putting a person in fear of death or great bodily harm in order to extort money, criminal intimidation, and other offenses in connection with the incident.
The player refused after giving him a few photos on his phone, which allegedly led to a fight between Gill and Thakur and Shaw.
Shaw and his friends were allegedly chased and the windscreen of their car was broken with a baseball bat by Gill, Thakur, and their six pals after they had waited for them outside the hotel. Shaw jumped into another automobile after spotting trouble, while Yadav took the assaulted car to the police station in Oshiwara to file a report.
