MS Dhoni is one of the most influential cricketers presently from our generation. The cult following of the cricketer knows no bounds at all and he is revered by everyone. He is widely respected by everyone in the cricketing fraternity and naturally, his brand image is quite popular.
But however, MS Dhoni seems to have fallen in trouble as the Advertising Standards Council Of India (ASCI), which is the regulatory council of advertisements of India has said that MS Dhoni has been violating rules of advertisements.
The Council stated that the complaints against celebrities have surged up and the celebrities haven’t been able to provide any proof with due diligence. They released a list which had the names of the celebrities who fell in this bracket and what came as a shock, MS Dhoni’s name topped the list.
ASCI said that despite the “Consumer Protection Act” which mandates celebrities to do their due diligence before coming on advertisements, they haven’t been doing so.
“In spite of the Consumer Protection Act now legally requiring celebrities to do their due diligence when they appear in ads, in 97 percent of cases processed by ASCI featuring celebrities, they failed to provide any evidence of due diligence,” read a report.
The ASCI further stated that the complaint numbers had a meteoric rise in this year. It was 55 and now it was 503, signalling a gargantuan increase of 803%.
ASCI’s report stated that MS Dhoni had 10 cases of non-compliance under his name and he topped the list. Famous You Tuber and actor Bhuvan Bam too features in this list and has a total of 7 cases of non-compliance under his name.
MS Dhoni’s CSK eye their 5th IPL title
The talismanic skipper and co. would be targeting their 5th Indian Premier League (IPL) title in the ongoing edition. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are presently in the 2nd position in the points table and are on 15 points from 13 games.
Even though they are coming on the back of a 7-wicket defeat at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Chennai would be quite confident of heading into the playoffs. They have looked pretty consistent and have all the tricks up their sleeve in order to win their 5th title.
Some of their key performers in this edition have been Devon Conway, Tushar Deshpande, Ravindra Jadeja and Matheesha Pathirana.
CSK next lock horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) on 20th May 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The match is slated to begin from 3:30 PM (IST).
