    After 128 matches, the action at the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024 all boils down to the knockout round, with the quarter finals kickstarting from 11th December 2024.     Bengal defeat Chandigarh in their pre-quarter final by a narrow and slender margin of 3 runs. Mohammad Shami, India’s premier all-format bowler, hogged the limelight for his swashbuckling innings of 32* runs in 17 balls.

    Shami smeared the bowlers all across the park and his blitzkrieg of a cameo was peppered with 3 fours and 2 sixes and he batted with a tremendous strike-rate of 188.24.

    Sayan Ghosh bagged the player of the match award for taking 4 wickets in the game and bamboozling the opposition batters.
