The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the Indian women’s squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Ireland, set to commence on January 10, 2025.

Smriti Mandhana has been appointed as the captain in the absence of regular skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who has been rested due to injury concerns.

Mandhana has previously captained the team in Harmanpreet’s absence and is expected to lead with confidence and skill.

Deepti Sharma will serve as Mandhana’s deputy during the series. The squad consists of 15 players, including several familiar faces and a few newcomers.

Notably, all-rounder Raghvi Bist has been included after making her T20I debut recently, while Sayali Satghare earns her first call-up to the national team.

India’s squad for the three-match ODI series against Ireland:

Smriti Mandhana (c), Deepti Sharma (vc), Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol, Jemimah Rodrigues, Uma Chetry (wk), Richa Ghosh (wk), Tejal Hasabnis, Raghvi Bist, Minnu Mani, Priya Mishra, Tanuja Kanwer, Titas Sadhu, Saima Thakor, Sayali Satghare

    Context of the Series

The ODI series against Ireland marks an important opportunity for India to build on their recent success, having swept the West Indies 3-0 in their last ODI series.

This will also be Ireland’s first-ever bilateral tour of India, making it a historic occasion for both teams.

All three matches will be held at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, with the fixtures scheduled as follows:

    • 1st ODI: January 10, 2025
    • 2nd ODI: January 12, 2025
    • 3rd ODI: January 15, 2025

All matches will start at 11 AM IST.

    Absences and Injuries

Harmanpreet Kaur absence is notable as she has been a key player for India in recent years.

She had previously missed games due to a neck injury sustained during the Women’s T20 World Cup in October 2024 and had just returned to action before this series.

Additionally, fast bowler Renuka Singh Thakur, who was instrumental in India’s success against the West Indies, has also been rested to manage her workload.
