However, Afghanistan’s bowlers, including Fazalhaq Farooqi and Fareed Ahmad, managed to restrict the Sri Lankan batsmen and claim crucial wickets.
In their chase, Afghanistan showcased their batting prowess, successfully reaching the target in 46.5 overs. Opener Ibrahim Zadran led the charge with a brilliant knock of 98 runs, while Rahmat Shah contributed 55 runs to the team’s cause.
Sri Lanka’s Matheesha Pathirana, in his debut ODI appearance, secured his maiden wicket by dismissing Shah. Kasun Rajitha and Lahiru Kumara also chipped in with wickets for the home side.
With Afghanistan displaying dominance in the previous encounter, they will be eager to maintain their winning momentum and secure the series. However, Sri Lanka will be determined to redeem themselves in front of their home crowd and level the scores.
