The Punjab cricket team scripted history in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 after they posted the highest ever total of 275 runs against Andhra Pradesh. This feat was achieved in Match 24 and there were fireworks in the entire stadium of the JSCA International Stadium Complex.
Opening batter of Punjab, Abhishek Sharma, top-scored with a brilliant knock of 112 runs in just 51 deliveries. His knock was peppered with 9 fours and 9 sixes and he had a blistering strike-rate of 219.61.
Anmolpreet Singh was the second-highest scorer for the Punjab team as he mustered a knock of 87 runs in just 26 balls. There were a total of 9 sixes that came from his blazing blade and it was a top-notch knock, that kept everyone at the edge of their seats.
Even though the Andra Pradesh bowlers took a few wickets, it was total doom and gloom for them. Every bowler had an economy of above 10 and were belted for boundaries, all across the stadium.
CV Stephen, Prithvi Raj and Tripurana Vijay bagged 2 wickets each for Andhra Pradesh but their bowling was only a pale shadow of their actual capabilities.
Punjab eventually win the game by 105 runs
Mandeep Singh and co. eventually registered a mammoth victory by a margin of 105 runs at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi, Jharkhand. The batters of Andhra Pradesh tried their level best to reach close to the total, but it was too big a task for them.
Ricky Bhui slammed a century for the Southern state and he scored an unbeaten knock of 104* runs in just 52 balls. His knock was packed with 6 fours and 9 sixes and he had a fiery strike-rate of 200.00.
Harpreet Brar was the pick of the bowlers for Punjab as he bagged 3 wickets and conceded only 18 runs in 4 overs, with a maiden over to his name. Siddharth Kaul took 2 wickets in this Punjab vs Andhra Pradesh game.
Punjab’s total was the highest-ever total by an Indian T20 team
Punjab eclipsed past Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) of the Indian Premier League (IPL), in terms of the highest total posted by an Indian T20 team. Notably, RCB had posted 263 runs in IPL 2013 against Pune Warriors India (PWI).
