T20 World Cup 2024: ICC Confirms 2024 T20 World Cup To Remain In WI And US, Dismisses Relocation Speculations

Date:

The USA Cricket (USAC) issued a statement on Wednesday, June 7, in response to the ongoing rumours that the T20 World Cup 2024 will be played outside of the USA and the West Indies.

The cricket board gave the assurance that worries regarding the absence of a good infrastructure for playing cricket in the country would be allayed, citing the successful conduction of the Major League Cricket (MLC) as proof.

Addressing the speculations, the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) clarified that there are no plans to move the upcoming T20 World Cup from the Caribbean islands and the United States to the United Kingdom.

Both cricket governing bodies individually issued statements on Friday, rejecting suggestions that the tournament would be played in England, Ireland, and Scotland due to administrative uncertainties within the USA Cricket (USAC).

An official spokesperson from the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) dismissed the reports suggesting a potential relocation of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 from the West Indies and the USA.

The spokesperson categorically stated, “There is absolutely no truth to these reports. Since the event is organized by the ICC, their statement must be regarded as binding and conclusive.”

The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that planning for this major event is well underway and that venue inspections have already been completed.

“Venue inspections have recently been concluded in both host territories, and planning for the event in June 2024 is in full swing,” said the ICC spokesperson.

With anticipation building, cricket fans around the world can look forward to a thrilling and action-packed tournament that will showcase the talents of the finest cricketing nations.

England’s role in hosting the 2024 T20 World Cup ruled out

As per the Cricbuzz report, a member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) swiftly refuted these suggestions, dismissing them as mere imaginative speculation.

Shedding light on the matter, the member clarified, “The 2024 event is scheduled for June, and the only other possible location is England. If someone were to ask the ECB if they can host in 2024, the answer would be crystal clear – they can’t. So, the possibility doesn’t even arise. Just a glance at the England venue fixtures for next year will confirm this to anyone observant enough,” stated the member.

The ICC member clearly denied any claims that England would host the T20 World Cup in 2024 with this statement. By highlighting the timing clash and the unavailability of England as a viable host, they emphasized the impossibility of such a scenario, leaving no room for doubt.
