Virat Kohli, a former captain of India, has stepped in on Shubman Gill and labeled him the team’s future star.
On February 1 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, Gill scored his first T20I century against New Zealand in the third and decisive T20I. The right-hander joined Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli as the sixth Indian to score hundreds in all formats.
The best individual score by an Indian in T20Is was recorded by the 23-year-old Gill (126*), who also outperformed Kohli (122*).
The “future is here,” stated Kohli on his Instagram account, calling Gill a “Sitara” (star).
Shubman Gill is paying off the support he is getting from the Indian team and management. He is going through the best form of his life.
In the most recent ODIs, Gill scored a double ODI century against New Zealand before hitting an ODI hundred against Sri Lanka.
The right-hander maintained his momentum against New Zealand in the T20 Internationals. At the Narendra Modi Stadium, Gill’s unbeaten knock of 126 helped India reach a 234/4 total in the third T20I match against New Zealand.
