    It is no secret that Virat Kohli is one of the richest cricketers as he is a walking brand. Both on and off the field, the talismanic batter has created a niche for himself and has stamped his authority across all the formats.

    The former Indian captain has a staggering net worth of more than Rs.1000 crores. Now in a report released by Fortune India, it has been reported that he paid a massive amount of Rs. 66 crores in the last financial year, 2023-24.

    He is the highest tax-paying sportsperson in India and is ranked 5th overall among celebrity taxpayers in India. Shah Rukh Khan pays a tax of Rs. 92 crores, Thalapathy Vijay pays Rs. 80 crores, Salman Khan pays Rs. 75 crores and Amitabh Bachchan pays Rs. 71 crores to the government.

    Virat Kohli has his social media filled with brand endorsements and it is reported that he charges more than Rs. 10 crores for every post on Instagram. He also does countless number of TV commercials and has businesses outside of cricket as well.

    The next sportsperson on the list after Virat Kohli is MS Dhoni

    Despite calling it quits from international cricket in 2020, MS Dhoni still continues to play the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Under his astute captaincy, CSK have lifted 5 IPL titles and along with Mumbai Indians (MI), they are the most successful side in the IPL.

    MS Dhoni is the next sportsperson on the list of celebrity taxpayers in India with Rs. 38 crores. Dhoni has a cult status in India and is a legendary player and former captain of the Indian cricket team.

    Virat Kohli to spring back to action in the 2-match Test series vs Bangladesh

    After enjoying a good break from international cricket, the former Indian captain will be returning to action in Test cricket versus Bangladesh that starts from 19th September 2024.  The first Test will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

    Notably, India will be naming the Test squad for the series after the 1st Round of Duleep Trophy. A lot of high-profile cricketers like Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, Shreyas Iyer and Dhruv Jurel will be playing in this tournament and would be hoping to grab the eyeballs of the selection committee of India.
