Former Indian captain and one of the best batters of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli, will be missing the first 2 Test matches of the India vs England Test series. The apex body of Indian cricket, the Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to confirm this news.
“Virat has spoken to Captain Rohit Sharma, the team management and the selectors and has emphasized that while representing the country has always been his top priority, certain personal situations demand his presence and undivided attention,” BCCI said in a press release.
Notably, Virat Kohli had missed the 1st T20I between India and Afghanistan in the recently-concluded T20I series in January 2024 due to personal reasons. He had logged scores of 29 and 0 in the next 2 T20Is.
England’s Harry Brook too will be missing out on this series as he has withdrawn from the squad due to personal reasons.
