    The 4th Test match between India and Australia has kickstarted at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and we have already seen a bit of drama. The series is presently locked at 1-1 and it holds the series in good stead as both the teams would be desperate to eke out a victory in the decisive 4th Test match.

    An incident in the 1st session of the Boxing Day Test match at Melbourne grabbed the eyeballs of everyone. Former Indian captain Virat Kohli and 19-year-old Australian debutant Sam Konstas were involved in a mid-pitch clash.

    While exchanging ends after the 10th over in the 1st innings, Virat Kohli bumped into Sam Konstas. The duo then ended up exchanging a few words and there was a heated argument between the two.

    Immediately, Australian southpaw Usman Khawaja and umpire Michael Gough stepped in to separate the two. Things did get heated up at the MCG and this proves that both the sides are desperate to get the better off each other in the game.

    Former Australian legendary captain Ricky Ponting pins blame on Virat Kohli

    While seeing the replays from the commentary box, former Australian captain and cricket pundit and commentator Ricky Ponting has pinned the blame on Virat Kohli for instigating the altercation.

    “Have a look at where Virat walks. Virat’s walked one whole pitch over to his right and instigated that confrontation. No doubt in my mind, whatsoever,” said Ricky Ponting on air while commentating for Channel 7.

    Australia are in a commanding position in the 1st innings

    At the time of writing this article, Australia are batting at 303-6. The top-order of the Ozzies performed exceedingly well and chipped in with quality knocks. Debutant Sam Konstas scored 60 runs while his opening partner Usman Khawaja notched up a 57-run knock.

    Marnus Labuschange and Steve Smith scored 72 and 68 runs respectively as Australia have their noses ahead in this Test match.

    For India, Jasprit Bumrah  bagged 3 wickets and was once again, the knight in shining armour.
