The Women’s IPL 2023 is all set to be a game-changer in the Indian women’s cricket arena and is set to revolutionize the sport for women. After the success of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), the apex body of Indian cricket the Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) has decided to launch the Women’s IPL.

The Women’s IPL 2023 will involve 5 teams and according to a report in News18, the teams will have a base price of Rs. 400 crores. This is the minimum price of the team that the owners will have to pay to buy a Women’s IPL team.

According to the report, the BCCI has decided to set the price tag of the tender of the franchises at Rs. 400 crores. There is a “master franchise agreement” that says that the teams need to look at the development of the sport and that women’s cricket needs to be given importance.

The existing men’s IPL teams could bid for the women’s IPL teams as well and the BCCI can invite fresh parties to bid for the teams.

Women’s IPL 2023 will take place before men’s IPL 2023

The Women’s IPL 2023 will be taking place in March 2023 after the conclusion of the ICC T20 Women’s World Cup 2023. The Women’s IPL 2023 will take place before the men’s IPL 2023. The ICC Women’s World Cup 2023 will end on February 26.

A total of 22 matches will be taking place in the Women’s IPL 2023 according to a few reports and there will be 5 franchises. BCCI is contemplating increasing the size of the Women’s IPL gradually with the progression of time.

A limit of 6 foreign players will be put on the squads and a total of 18 players need to be bought by the franchises to ensure participation in the league.
