The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is all set to get underway from 3rd October 2024 and all the action will be live from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). A total of 10 teams will be fighting it amongst themselves for the elusive silverware.
Pakistan women are slotted in Group A alongside Australia women, India women, New Zealand women and Sri Lanka women. It is a tough group and they need to be right on the money from the very first match.
Just before the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistan women played a 3-match T20I series with South Africa women and they lost the series, 1-2. It was the 2nd T20I that they won against the Proteas women.
In this article, we take a look at the top 3 Pakistani players to watch out for in the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024:
1. Sidra Ameen
With 928 runs under her belt in this format, Sidra Ameen will be one of the key players to watch out for in the upcoming marquee tournament. She is one of the most reliable batters of Pakistan women and has a highest score of 63 in this format.
She did have an underwhelming sojourn at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 in South Africa and would be looking to change her fortunes in this edition.
2. Muneeba Ali
In the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, Muneeba Ali had finished as the highest run-getter of Pakistan women with 122 runs under her belt. She had smashed a century against Ireland women in the second game of Pakistan women in that campaign.
Ali would be hoping to take her team over the line for the first time in the history of this competition. Notably, Pakistan women have never advanced to the next stage of this competition.
3. Nashra Sandhu
26-year-old slow left-arm orthodox bowler Nashra Sandhu has 58 wickets in her kitty in this format. She had finished as the highest wicket-taker in the previous edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup for Pakistan women, with 7 wickets under her belt.
She had taken 2 wickets in the series against South Africa women, right before the World Cup. If Sandhu gets going for Pakistan women, a lot of results can go in favour of the Women in Green.
