WPL 2024 Auction Bidding Drama: Giants Secure The Service 

The WPL auction drama started with Gujarat Giants initiating the bidding for Chandigarh’s prodigy, Kashvee Gautam.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore swiftly entered the fray, extending the bid to INR 15 lakh. What ensued was a strategic dance between the Giants and RCB, with the bid surpassing the INR 50 lakh mark, highlighting the determination of both franchises in this high-stakes showdown.

As the intensity escalated, UP Warriorz joined the fray at INR 75 lakh, injecting a new dynamic into the proceedings. Undeterred, Gujarat Giants pushed the bid past the INR 1 crore. 

Then again a bidding war started, with UP Warriorz responding with a bid of 1.1 crore. However, Giants increased the bid to a staggering 1.4 crore, ultimately reaching a momentous pause at INR 2 crores.

Kashvee Gautam, a right-arm seamer hailing from Chandigarh, came into the limelight with her extraordinary talent. 

In 2020, she was noticed, after she had a remarkable ten-wicket haul, including a hat-trick, during a one-day game in the women’s domestic Under-19 competition against Arunachal Pradesh.

Her exceptional performance did not go unnoticed, earning her a coveted spot in one of the teams participating in the Women’s T20 Challenge. 

While she went unsold in the Women’s Premier League auction the previous year, Gautam dedicated herself to honing her skills, especially focusing on increasing her pace based on feedback from scouts.

Her journey reached a new pinnacle in the Women’s T20 trophy this year, where she showcased her prowess by claiming 12 wickets in seven games, maintaining an impressive economy rate of 4.14. 

Beyond the domestic circuit, Gautam was a key contributor to India’s victory in the ACC Emerging tournament in Hong Kong, representing the Under-23 squad.
